Challenge
59 years in the making, the design for the iconic curvilinear Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center linking the shore of Lake Monona to the State Capitol was first proposed by native Wisconsinite Frank Lloyd Wright in 1938. When it was finally built in 1997, Siplast was chosen to solve the significant challenges the design presented, including application in extremely cold weather.
Solution
- Siplast Paradiene 20 TG and Teranap offer durability that was required for the expansive plaza deck. In temperatures as low as 10°F, the torch application of Teranap, Siplast's high-performance SBS-modified bitumen waterproofing system was not a problem. The 2-meter width of Teranap rolls offered fewer laps.

Teranap Plaza Deck Waterproofing & Green Roofing Systems
In the 1970s, environmental awareness began to grow, and so did the use of green roof systems as a way to manage environmental impact. Of course, both plaza deck and green roof applications create significant waterproofing challenges. That's why Siplast Research and Development took their pioneering SBS-modified bitumen technology and applied it to the design of a waterproofing membrane for plaza deck and green roof applications: Teranap.
